Man —All Have Sinned

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” God created the heaven and the earth. Creation took place in six literal 24 hour days. This is revealed to us by the use of the phrase “the evening and the morning” and then it states what number of day in the week it was. Example: Genesis 1:4-5 “And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Creation took place about six thousand years ago. We begin to realize this by calculating the years men lived, had children, and died as stated in the Bible genealogies and then comparing them.
God created man in His own image; the Godhead has three persons — the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Man was created without sin in the image and likeness of God with a body, soul, and spirit on the sixth day of creation. Genesis 1:26-27 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Adam was made from the dust of the ground and God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and Adam became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
God placed him in the garden in Eden and caused every need he had to be met. Genesis 2:8 “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” Adam named all the animals. He was intelligent. God supplied Adam with a wife, whom Adam named Eve. Eve is the mother of all living. Genesis 3:20 “And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” She was made by God from one of Adam’s ribs. Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for in the day they would eat thereof they would “surely die.” Genesis 2:17 “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” They could eat of everything else. God made Man with the ability to choose God’s way or reject it. God did not want man to be forced to obey him. God wanted man to obey him by choice. Obedience by personal choice from the heart makes good fellowship. Adam and Eve had perfect fellowship with God. I imagine they talked of many things, probably about the wonderful things God had made, including plants, their uses, the sky, beasts, and so forth. There was much to talk about and so much for man to learn. What perfect fellowship between God and man! Then, as recorded in Genesis chapter three, the serpent talked to Eve. Satan through the serpent, twisted what God’s word said, Eve gave ear and sinned by eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She then gave to Adam who was “with her” and he did eat. Genesis 3:6 “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” By Adam's sin mankind fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became separated from God. Adam and Eve instantly died spiritually when they sinned, just as God had said. Their body began to die also and would continue until it was completely dead. When God’s glory left them because of sin, they needed clothes. They realized they were naked. Adam and Eve covered their naked bodies with aprons made of fig lives and attempted to hide from God. This was man’s first attempt to cover his sins by his own good works. God came as usual in the cool of the day and sought them. God knew, but he still sought them. God cursed the ground because of Adam’s sin. Living on earth would no longer be easy. Woman was cursed in relation to pain concerning childbirth. She no longer had the ability to birth children without sorrow. The serpent was cursed and would therefore go on his belly and eat dust. God rejected man’s attempt to save himself by his own good works (making himself aprons). God required skins from a beast he would kill signifying that only the death of Christ would forgive sins, not good works of man. God clothed Adam and Eve in these coats of skins. They wore them. Adam and Eve were driven from the garden in Eden and Cherubims with flaming swords were placed by God to guard the way to the tree of life.
All mankind are descendants of Adam and Eve. Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Mankind is dead in trespasses and sins, and unable to save or help save himself. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” The only hope for mankind is redemption through Christ. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, died on the cross, shed his blood, was buried and rose again, therefore whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Ephesians 2:1-2 “ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

God is mindful of man. “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!”

Christian men will be judged and be rewarded for their works. 1 Corinthians 3:15 “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” They will inherit everlasting life. Lost men will be judged for their sins and go to the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Although the effects of sin still abound on the earth today, one day, in the future, God will cause the earth to be like it was before the sin of Adam and Eve. Romans 8:22-23 “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
